Change user permissions

Decide which users have access to certain features of SmartScope within your team

Admins have control over their users' access to features within SmartScope.

Permissions can be set in the admin panel. This is accessed through the menu in the top right corner, under the option "Manage team."

There are several permissions to set here.

Set a user's status

The "Status" setting determines whether a user is active in the system.

This can be set as:
  1. Active: The user's account is being used as normal. The user can log in and perform actions based on the permissions tied to their account.
  2. Inactive: The user's account is not being used. The user cannot log in until an admin reactivates the account.
  3. Invited: An invite has been sent out to the user but they have yet to sign up or sign in. Once the user signs in for the first time, their account will be set to active automatically.

Allow a user to add, edit, and remove devices

The "Devices" setting controls the user's ability to modify the team's shared device list.

This can be set as:
  1. Manage: The user can add, edit, and remove devices without any need for admin approval.
  2. View: The user can only view the devices already in the system and has no way to modify them.

Allow a user to approve other users' reports

The "Reports" setting controls the user's ability to approve reports generated by other users.

This can be set as:
  1. Approve: The user can approve other users' reports without admin intervention. Reports this user generates are automatically approved.
  2. Suggest: The user can only suggest reports and needs another user's approval before a report is finalized. The user can still see approved reports from other users.

Allow a user to inspect devices

The "Inspection" setting controls the user's ability to inspect a device using a borescope and to generate reports with notes.

This can be set as:
  1. Yes: The user has access to the "Inspector" tab in SmartScope and can connect a borescope to generate reports with images and annotations, as well as view device-specific instructions.
  2. No: The user cannot perform inspections or generate any reports, but can still view device-specific instructions in SmartScope.

Give a user admin permissions

The "Admin" setting controls the user's admin status. Users with admin status will have access to the team management page.

This can be set as:
  1. Yes: The user is an admin and therefore has access to the team management page. They can set permissions for other users.
  2. No: The user does not have access to the team management page.

Activate or deactivate a user

Users can be activated or deactivated under the "Actions" menu.

Active users can be deactivated here to lock access to the account.

An account that has been deactivated can be reactivated from this menu as well.
